Role Desription
This hands-on Senior Production Support Engineer role supports critical Billing and FLEX applications, batch processing, data movement, APIs, and system integrations that enable accurate and timely billing, commission, and fee processing. Working closely with U.S.-based and India-based teams, the engineer will independently investigate and resolve complex production incidents while ensuring the reliability, stability, and accuracy of Billing and FLEX services.
This is not an end-user support role. The position focuses on system-generated incidents, batch failures, application integrations, data validation, monitoring alerts, and operational activities across Java- and .NET-based distributed applications. The role requires strong technical judgment, disciplined incident management, effective cross-team coordination, and a continuous-improvement mindset focused on automation, observability, and reducing recurring operational issues.
Key Responsibilities
Provide production support for Billing and FLEX applications and related integrations across Java and .NET technology stacks.
• Independently manage and resolve complex incidents involving batch processing, scheduled jobs, APIs, file transfers, data movement, and system-to-system integrations.
• Troubleshoot Java and .NET applications by analyzing logs, exceptions, application behavior, service dependencies, and deployment configurations.
• Monitor and validate Billing and FLEX processing, including billing cycles, enrollment, invoicing, commission and fee calculations, reconciliation, and downstream data delivery.
• Assess incident impact, technical risk, data integrity, and business urgency; coordinate timely escalation and recovery activities.
• Use SQL, monitoring tools, application logs, and operational dashboards to identify root causes and validate resolution.
• Partner with Development, SRE, Infrastructure, Database, Network, and business teams on complex or recurring production issues.
• Lead or contribute to root cause analysis and drive corrective actions that improve reliability and prevent recurrence.
• Support production releases, deployment validation, certificate renewals, maintenance activities, disaster recovery testing, and operational readiness reviews.
• Create and improve scripts, automation, monitoring, and alerting to reduce operational toil and improve response times.
• Maintain accurate runbooks, support procedures, application documentation, and knowledge repositories.
• Provide clear incident communications, cross-regional handoffs, and status updates to technical and business stakeholders.
• Mentor less-experienced engineers and share technical and functional knowledge across the support team.
• Participate in an on-call rotation supporting critical production incidents and platform availability.
Scope & Expectations
• Senior individual contributor responsible for independently driving production incidents through resolution.
• Provides technical guidance during complex investigations and serves as an escalation resource for less-experienced engineers.
• Supports critical Billing and FLEX processes, distributed applications, batch workloads, APIs, integrations, commission and fee calculations, and enterprise data flows.
• Applies an SRE and DevOps mindset to improve observability, automation, resiliency, and operational readiness.
• Collaborates closely with Development, Infrastructure, Product, and Support teams across global production environments.
Required Qualification
6+ years of experience in Production Support, Application Support, Software Engineering, IT Operations, or a related role supporting enterprise applications.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting or developing object-oriented applications using Java, .NET, or both.
• Experience troubleshooting distributed applications, APIs, batch processing, scheduled jobs, application integrations, and enterprise data movement.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Working knowledge of SQL queries, data validation, and reconciliation techniques.
• Experience reviewing Java and .NET application logs, stack traces, exceptions, and service dependencies.
• Experience with application monitoring, alert management, and log-analysis platforms.
• Understanding of REST APIs, file transfers, messaging, and system-to-system integration patterns.
• Experience supporting Linux and/or Windows operating environments.
• Understanding of networking and authentication fundamentals, including DNS, connectivity, load balancing, certificates, and service authentication.
• Familiarity with incident, problem, change, and release management processes.
