Role Description
This role offers the opportunity to engineer sophisticated analytics and automation solutions that solve meaningful business problems across multiple teams. You will combine hands-on Power BI, Tableau, Power Apps, Power Automate, data-modeling, and SQL expertise to deliver reliable end-to-end products. You will independently lead defined workstreams, collaborate with stakeholders, and influence solution design within established enterprise architecture and governance standards.
The position provides exposure to platform modernization, self-service analytics, application development, workflow automation, and reporting migration initiatives. You will also expand your leadership capabilities by mentoring developers, coordinating delivery activities, and acting as a technical point of contact for assigned solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead defined BI engineering and Power Platform workstreams from requirements analysis through design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and production support.
- Design and develop complex Power BI reports, semantic models, Tableau dashboards, Power Apps applications, and Power Automate workflows that address business and operational needs.
- Analyze business requirements, source-system structures, SQL logic, data relationships, and reporting dependencies to recommend scalable technical solutions.
- Develop and optimize advanced SQL queries, views, stored procedures, transformations, and reusable data structures supporting reporting and analytical applications.
- Coordinate delivery with business analysts, product owners, data engineers, platform administrators, architects, and quality-assurance partners.
- Apply enterprise standards for data governance, security, access management, source control, deployment, documentation, testing, performance, and operational readiness.
- Support modernization initiatives involving Tableau-to-Power BI migration, dashboard rationalization, semantic-model development, and replacement of manual processes with automated workflows.
- Manage assigned operational tasks, including incident investigation, production troubleshooting, enhancement prioritization, dependency management, and stakeholder communications.
- Conduct solution-design reviews, SQL reviews, dashboard usability assessments, performance analysis, and reconciliation testing.
- Mentor less-experienced developers, share technical knowledge, and provide constructive guidance on development practices and solution quality.
Required Qualifications
- 5-7+ years of progressive experience developing and leading delivery of Power BI, Tableau, Power Apps, and Power Automate solutions.
- Advanced SQL expertise, including query optimization and complex data transformations across enterprise-scale datasets.
- Demonstrated experience leading BI/Power Platform workstreams end-to-end, from requirements through production support.
- Experience architecting governed semantic models and reusable data assets across Power BI and/or Tableau.
- Experience applying enterprise data-governance, security, and access-management standards to BI solutions.
- Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional delivery with architects, data engineers, QA, and business partners.
- Experience leading or significantly contributing to platform modernization initiatives (e.g., Tableau-to-Power BI migration).
- Bachelor's degree in a related technical field (Master's preferred) with demonstrated technical leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large-scale Tableau-to-Power BI rationalization or migration programs.
- Experience with Power Platform Center of Excellence (CoE) governance and environment strategy.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, DataOps, and CI/CD practices for BI development.
- Experience evaluating or managing BI delivery vendors/consulting partners.
- Advanced Power Automate experience, including approval flows, desktop/RPA flows, and complex connectors.
- Relevant certification(s) such as PL-300, PL-400, or Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Solution Architect.
- Experience presenting technical roadmaps and recommendations to senior leadership.
